Council World

As the sun set Friday night, people from Brooklyn and other parts of the city headed to Williamsburg's Baby's All Right for a unique and unforgettable performance. It had just been nearly 70 degrees the previous day, but by nightfall it was drastically colder. That, however, didn't stop people from filling the Williamsburg bar and venue and before the show even began, it was sold out. Divine Council was headlining the bill, a small rap group based in Richmond, Virginia. For those who don't know, the group consists of Lord Linco, Cyrax!, ICYTWAT, and $ilkmoney. They have received a ton of praise over recent years and are making massive waves in the industry. Last December they released a remix to their track "Decemba" featuring Outkasts very own,  André 3000. Earlier in the year they performed at the 2016 SXSW and later got signed to Epic Records.
People waited patiently for the group to take the stage. The Council was being supported by Westside Parlé and Texas based artist, Milo Velour. The crowd was packed shoulder to shoulder and it wasn't long before Milo jumped into the crowd and a mosh pit broke out. Milo went on to perform his track "taxin", which features fellow rap artist Smokepurpp, and the crowd showed no remorse. The night was still young and the energy was rampant.

As time went on, the floor filled up and the bars became packed. Backstage the Council patiently waited for their time to go on. Sitting quietly, the Council prepared for their headlining set and finally the door to the stage cracked and"PS42WW$" began to play. They gathered themselves and were immediately greeted by chants and a crowd ready to turn the venue upside down. It seemed all of the crowd knew the words to every song. The crowd, acted as one, with people pressed to each wall and tightly against the stage, not one person could stand still if they had tried.. The Council went on to perform tracks such as "Can't Afford Me" and "Decemba". The crowds energy was incestant, and it only grew when Cyrax! stage dived into the crowd. When the evening came to an end they thanked Brookyln and humbly walked off stage.
Divine Council is a group of talented artists who are definitely ones to watch. Last year they were named to Rolling Stones "10 New Artists You Need to Know". Be on the lookout for new releases and definitely catch them next time they're in your area.
